1. Scope

a. Furnish Materials, labor equipment and related items required to complete the installation of Boen wood flooring and related work as specified on drawings.

b. Work generally includes, but is not limited to:
    1. Preparation of subfloor.
    2. Installation of Boen flooring.
    3. Protection of flooring installed.

2. Materials

a. Boen 2-strip flooring will be selected from a variety of materials; Ash, Beech, Birch, Cherry, Hickory, Iroko, Maple, White Oak, Bubinga, Merbau, Moabi, Mutenye, Panga-Panga, Teak, Ash Polar, Red Oak, Jatoba and Walnut.

b. Flooring to be Boen Plank in the above materials. Each Plank shall be 5/8” (15mm) thick and 5½” (139mm) wide and 7’2 5/8” (2200mm) long. Boen 2-strip shall be laminated construction. Factory prefinished, the face made up of select wood, two strips each approx. 2 ¾” (69,5mm) wide. Random lengths create random interspersed joints along each section. Edges shall be tongue and groove, unbevelled.

c. Adhesive and resilient foam as recommended by your dealer.

3. Preparation of substrates.

a. Slabs on grade shall be membrane waterproofed

b. Concrete substrates shall be furnished clean, smooth, dry and level with a tolerance not exceeding 1/8 of 1 inch in 10 feet. Other subfloors should be solid, dry and level.

c. When the floating method is preferred, use a 6 mil polyethylene sheet on the subfloor. For added resiliency and greater sound abate ment, also use a sheet of resilient foam backing as supplied by your dealer.

d. When the glue down method is preferred, the surface shall be clean of all foreign materials in order to provide a proper adhesive bond. Concrete curing compounds and sealers must be removed. Should patching or levelling be required, use Latex cement patching compound. Subflooring shall be scoured with 3-1/2 open grit paper and vacuumed to remove all loose particles.

4. Installation methods

d. Protection-Area being installed should be isolated from outside traffic and dirt contamination during installation.

PROPERTIES

Fire – Boen Parkett satisfies all requirements for flooring, as specified in class G, Norwegian Standard NS3919.

Moisture – Boen Parkett tolerates normal variations in temperature, but in regions with high air humidity we recommend the use of air conditioning.

Durability – The parquet will keep for generations, if correctly used and maintained.
