FSC Mixed Sources Certification

The FSC certificate is a recognised guidance for the consumer. It guarantees that the flow of these products has been verified, from the forest to the point of sale.

From January 2008, the FSC Mixed Sources certificate requires that  minimum 70 % of the product delivered, originate from FSC certified wood. The remaining 30% can come from FSC Controlled wood area which means that the main requirements and laws are followed when operating in a forest. It can neither accept gene modified- nor plantage wood.

An FSC CoC (chain of custody) certified company has to keep account of the origin of the wood and be able to trace the flow of the products.

Today, more than 70% of the oak used at BOEN is FSC certified. The 5-layer plywood used for the underlayer of Prestige is a minimum 50% FSC certified. Jatoba can also be supplied with FSC certificate, but at this stage, in a limited quantity.

Of the quantity of spruce used for middle- and bottom layer ca 16 % is FSC certified. Boen is together with the sawmills working to FSC control the remaining part of the spruce to be able to implement the FSC Mixed Sources logo on all European- and North American wood species.
